External Retail Sales Coordinator

    The Commercial Operations and Enterprise business unit includes the Retail team which operates the Museum Shop, an online shop, wholesale, and corporate sales and requires a Coordinator to ensure that retail processes are performed while maintaining a high level of customer service at all times.

    The role is responsible for ecommerce and requires high-level knowledge of retail practices, online shop platforms, online product management and an understanding of basic inventory processes. The role undertakes system administration activities for the Shopify online system as well as working in online systems including freight systems (Shippit and Australia Post) and the Retail Express point-of-sale system.
    The role requires publishing skills and technical knowledge working in programs including but not limited to Acrobat, Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator.

    The Coordinator manages the maintenance of the Museum’s online shop presence and the fulfillment of orders. The role is responsible for meeting service level agreements, creating product data, processing orders and sales reporting. The Coordinator is also responsible for scheduling online shop promotions that match the in-store presence as well as assisting with sales strategies to ensure targets are met. This could include coordinating photoshoots for the online store and contributing to content for social media. The position will work closely with the Retail Team Leader and Inventory Coordinator and includes supporting each other when on leave.

    This role will work with internal and external stakeholders to grow the online shop, wholesale and corporate commercial streams, while continually working to improve the functionality and online experience, including research, testing and planning.

    The role will work autonomously with limited supervision to manage their own workload depending on the needs of the business.

    The key duties of the position include:

    The successful candidate will bring to the Museum knowledge of retail practices, online shop platforms, online product management and an understanding of basic inventory processes. Experience with Shopify will be highly regarded. The position success will be focused on maintaining customer service standards and meeting key performance indicators on the online platform.

    This position will work across the Retail team in the smooth delivery of online and wholesale, corporate orders and content planning. This role will help to develop, maintain and update online shop and postage procedures. 

    Along with working in the Retail team this position will engage with other business units, for example the finance, marketing and social media teams. The role will represent the work area at internal and external meetings and provide sound advice and recommendations on the operations of the online shop and contribute new ideas and identify opportunities to improve the efficiency of business processes.

    This role will be the first point of contact internally and externally for the online shop including customer enquiries via the enquiry form, email and phone.  This role will maintain relationships with online, wholesale and corporate customers to ensure efficient service and maximise sale opportunities. 

    The successful candidate will be willing to assist the retail operation in all areas as required and bring to the team an enthusiastic and can-do attitude.
