The MSAANZ 2017 Retail Recognition Awards,  celebrating innovation and creativity in the unique field of cultural retailing were celebrated at an awards dinner in Sydney on the 21st of September.

The judges found that winners included a wide range of museums, galleries and some truly inspired approaches to developing product that supports the arts, and our history.

The MSAANZ Retail Recognition Award Dinner was generously supported by Science & Nature. Managing Director Nigel Kirby congratulated all the finalists and winners for their hard work and creativity.

Winner: Australian Centre for the Moving Image: ACMI for “RMIT & ACMI Collaboration”

The judges commended the range on the provision of an opportunity for young designers to gain experience in a commercial venture, the constant use of the “Moving Image” theme throughout the range, and the excellent follow up promotion via Creative Victoria, Fashion Victoria, RMIT & ACMI social Media.

Highly Commended: Museums Wellington – Te Waka Huia o Nga Taonga Tuku Iho for  “Wellington Architectural Medley”

Best New Bespoke Product or Range (Turnover greater than 1M)

Winner: Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland War Memorial Museum for “Volume: Making Music in Aotearoa”

The Judges commented that the range “presents a wide variety of price points and product types, catering to a broad range of customers. All products were  produced using suppliers local to Auckland where possible, or at the least within New Zealand. Environmental consciousness has been recognised through the use of organic and unbleached fabrics. There is clear & cohesive design with minimalistic black & white style across all products.
